JRPS N.A.H.B.S. weekend rides (from Feb 27, 2010 01:00 PM to Feb 27, 2010 03:00 PM)

Saturday 1pm (2-27-10): Please meet up at the Tredegar Street parking lot underneath the train tracks about 30 minutes before the designated ride time to get ready for the ride. Before the ride starts we will split up into two groups based on the skill level of the riders. Plan on 1-2 hours of ride time based on which group you plan to ride with. Trail Work and Planting at Forest Hill Park (from Feb 27, 2010 09:00 AM to Feb 27, 2010 01:00 PM)

Saturday morning is a JRPS trail work day and our friend Nathan Burrell (JRPS Trails Manager) will still be hard at work performing some trail reclamation on the old trails in Forest Hill Park as well as planting some native plants on Saturday 2-27-10. Please keep an eye on the trail work emails if you have some time to spare and could lend a hand with trail work Saturday morning then come out and join us for the 1pm JRPS ride. Meet at Reedy Creek Parking lot at 9:00am

****FRIDAY NIGHT RIDE HAS BEEN CANCELLED******** Friday night ride (2-26-10) Please meet up at the Dogwood Dell/Barker Field parking lot on the north end of the Boulevard Bridge around 5:30pm or so to be prepared for the rides 6pm start. Please bring adequate lighting and plan on an hour and a half to 2 hours of ride time at an intermediate pace. We will be meeting again this month at the new REI store in the westend. First hour will be club business and the we will depart to a local watering hole for social hour. Come out and join us.

Super Bowl Ride ( Briery Branch Community Center parking lot, from Feb 07, 2010 10:00 AM to Feb 07, 2010 02:00 PM)

This ride although very casual is geared more toward the experienced and often "hard core" riders who don't mind climbing mountains for 2 hours straight in temperatures that are commonly hovering around freezing or below on roads that are most always frozen over solid sheets of ice near the top ½ of the summit. After a bit of social activity (including a group photo) at the summit the riders pick a descent and proceed to bomb down some sweet (and steep) single track which will typically drop you out within a few miles of your car. More info on this ride will follow below. Please note that the SVBC is collecting canned food for the Blue Ridge Food Bank so if you could spare a bit and feel generous please bring a few cans of food for donation to help our friends out.

The rides will start this Thursday, November 5th, at 6:00pm and continue every Thursday through the fall and winter until the start of Daylight Saving Time in 2010. Night rides will not be held during holiday weeks and any ride cancellations will be posted on our website
