Super Bowl Ride
This ride although very casual is geared more toward the experienced and often "hard core" riders who don't mind climbing mountains for 2 hours straight in temperatures that are commonly hovering around freezing or below on roads that are most always frozen over solid sheets of ice near the top ½ of the summit. After a bit of social activity (including a group photo) at the summit the riders pick a descent and proceed to bomb down some sweet (and steep) single track which will typically drop you out within a few miles of your car. More info on this ride will follow below. Please note that the SVBC is collecting canned food for the Blue Ridge Food Bank so if you could spare a bit and feel generous please bring a few cans of food for donation to help our friends out.

Directions: Route 81 North from Interstate 64. - Exit: 240 Bridgewater on I-81 North. - Head west towards town of Bridgewater to Route 42. (4 miles or so) - Take Right on Route 42 North towards town of Dayton. (3 miles or so) - Take Left at Stop Light on Route 257 - Follow maybe 5 miles to Stop Sign, take left to stay on Route 257. - Continue for maybe fives miles, pass a little gas station on your left, continue straight for 1 mile, Briery Branch Community Center is on your left, just a gravel parking lot with a tennis court that is filled with grass.
From Richmond plan on about 2 hrs 45 min to 3 hours of drive time to reach the Briery Branch Community center. Remember the ride will leave the Briery Branch Community Center parking lot at 10am, so leave yourself a little bit of time to get chamoised up.
What: A tradition that has gone on for over 25 years. Ride up the pavement towards Reddish Knob
but then fork off to Flagpole Knob. There are several options to
descend the mountain but make sure you have a buddy who knows the area
or ask questions!!
Conditions: The conditions can very so expect
everything from snow, rain, sun, single digit temperatures, ice covered
fire roads etc. We will update the current mountain conditions as the
event gets closer. There are always many group photos at the top...some
naked folks and good times for all. Make sure you are prepared and
don't be scared to ask for help.
