Dogwood Dell
"Did someone say new trails?"
We've been hinting at this all Fall, but have been waiting for all of the i's to be dotted and t's to be crossed before saying anything official. But now that everyone is on board, we're happy to announce the construction of the new Dogwood Dell Trails.
The plan is to construct 1.5+ miles of mountain bike trail and over a half mile of separate hiking/walking only trial. Nathan is working on the final trail layout now. Come out to Wednesday night's Richmond-MORE Meeting for all the details. A grant from REI in 2010 will help to pay for construction.
Here's the planned schedule:
- Trail corridor clearing - early January
- SWECO Trail Grading - mid- January
- Bridges, hand cutting, fine-tuning - late-January and February
This will be a great addition to the existing trails in the James River Park Trail System. We look forward to having everyone come out and help with the construction.
