RA MORE and Elk Hill Explore New Trail System in Goochland

Members of Elk Hill attended the November 18th Club meeting to discuss a partnership with RA MORE to build a trail system at Elk Hill's Goochland campus. The idea is in the "discussion phase", and while not a done deal, offers a great opportunity for RA MORE members and especially the students at Elk Hill. Read on to learn more about this great opportunity to help the Elk Hill Program.

Elk Hill is a unique organization that serves Virginia's "at risk" youth with a highly successful group of educational and behavioral programs that help reduce drop out rates and juvenile justice intakes. Elk Hill was started in 1970 by a successful, local businessman.

Today, Elk Hill serves over 250 youths in eight programs at five locations around Central Virginia. The main campus located on 300 acres in Goochland will service as the home to the proposed new trail system. Elk Hill has been  adding adventure programs to keep the boys active outside, and they would like to add mountain biking to their activities.

We are excited about the opportunity to help Elk Hill plan and execute their trail system. They have young, strong boys to help build the trails that they will eventually ride. We are also looking into opportunities to donate bikes for the boys, teach them trail building skills and how to ride and maintain their bikes. And as an added bonus, RA MORE members might have access to ride these trails.

Look for more news on this partnership in the months to come.
