Treasurer’s Report for January ’10
- Started month with $9,971
- Paid out $2,200 to Forest Hill Park project
- Ended month with $11,733
- 13 memberships either renewed or joined in January
- To date, 70 people pre-registered for “Trailicious!” event at Capital Ale House on February 27th.
Trail Advocacy Report
- Having trouble with Henrico M.O.U. because of some insurance issues.
- Westview M.O.U. is on the table. Westview has 880 acres available for trail development. Nothing signed at this point. Meeting with Westview Board of Directors on 1/30 was cancelled because of the snow storm. Westview is private land.
Social Report
- “Trailicious!” Social event on Feb. 27th from 7-11 PM at Capital Ale House
- Event with have a live band called “Broke Bike Mountain”, raffles, displays, playing the movie “Klunkerz” in the background. Video featuring Nathan Burrell and the Forest Hill Park trail system.
- IMBA will be in town. Possibility exists of turning the downtown Richmond trail system into an IMBA epic.
Trail Work Report
- Completed 1st phase of Forest Hill Park re-route project with Bill Blythe operating the Sweco. A lot was done, but large amounts of snow this winter has put trail work to a grinding halt.
- February 27th, Tree Planting in Forest Hill Park. 1,500 saplings. Alliance for Chesapeake Bay Foundation will be assisting, as well as a Boy Scout Troop, a Fraternity and Sorority, and several other organizations.
New Business
- Kid’s Bike Program possibility. Helmet give-away. Bike Safety Tips.
- Xterra is June 19-20 in Richmond
- Metro is still looking for Ride Leaders
- Possibly another fundraiser in the fall. Could raise money for trail work in Dogwood Dell.
- Some discussion on whether the rides on Feb 27th will be cancelled due to poor trail conditions resulting from the recent snowfalls.
