VA Capital Trail in Henrico Follow up

Henrico County does not see eye to eye with VDOT concerning the VA Capital Trail

The Times-Dispatch reported on VDOTs meeting concerning plans for the Virginia Capital Trail section that will run though the Varina district of Henrico County.

http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2011/feb/04/tdmet01-vdot-henrico-differ-on-virginia-capital-tr-ar-819655/

To summarize, VDOT would like to continue the Virginia Capital Trail as a separate trail along Route 5 like every other portion of the trail. Henrico County, the only area locality that has not passed a resolution supporting bike and pedestrian trails and facilities, would like to make more room for cars and reduce the family friendliness of the trail by putting the trail on the shoulder of the 55mph speed limit Route 5 rather than continuing the separate bike path that is the standard on the rest of the trail.

I urge you to write to the Board of Supervisors and express your opinion on this matter.
